The Newton Firefighter’s Association, Local 863 is a nonprofit organization that represents the firefighters, mechanics and signal men and women who make up the Newton Fire Department, Newton, Massachusetts.
The Association’s primary objectives are to serve its membership with integrity by providing the highest quality of representation, safety education, to advance and protect wages, hours and working conditions and to improve public and firefighter safety through maintaining a cooperative labor management relationship with Newton’s administrators and elected officials.
Unlike traditional labor unions, we have a unique responsibility to the community as an advocate for the health and safety of the citizens of Newton and will not hesitate to bring to light any situation or condition that may create an undue risk to the community or to those sworn to protect it.
We believe in being an active participant in the community through our charitable efforts and actively support those who have similar interests and objectives.
Strength through united action, guided by intelligence is the hallmark of any trade union organization.
The Newton Firefighter’s Association, Local 863 believes that such unity is essential for the mutual protection and advancement of the interests and general welfare of both the public and of firefighters everywhere.
